Heatsink
A heatsink is a hardware component that can dissipate heat away from the chip or equipment it is protecting from overheating
It is usually made of copper or aluminium and its surface area is maximized by using fins and channels. A fan is often attached to it to increase air flow even more.
Modern CPUs normally have to be mounted on a heat sink or it would overheat almost instantly.
